One thing new networkers learn real quick is how advertising can cost a lot of money and usually show little if no return. But there are some affordable ways to get quality advertising. Adengage is a good one also you want to be wary of these so called traffic sites that say free traffic. Most of time it is just other members clicking through to get their advertising credits. pay per click is probably the most expensive way and unless you have a great ad that draws it is a waiste of money. take from em I spent 6 months with Google optimizing my ad weekly to see what draws clicks. Even still you get a lot of tire kickers. so you pay for people just to click you link and in the law of numbers it can get pretty expensive. With Adengage you pay for the ad not the clicks and the have decent rates for the average marketer. also social networking sites are a great source for leads if you continually work at it.

A Little More On Free Advertising

Free traffic has to be optimized. Traffic exchange "Surfers" are for the most part
looking for their own advertising credits. This is why it is important to have
a unique (not replicated) and FAST loading lead capture page.
You don't have the 20 to 30 seconds that is the surf timer.
Try 2 to 5 seconds to get a viewer to take action!
Think of the many sites you see over & over. What's the chances of someone
being interested enough to subscribe/purchase when your site comes up!
Grab their contact info quickly by giving them something they can really
use in exchange. And I mean REALLY USE! You will be building your
credibility and have a future costomer for life!
We don't need to sell right now.

You are right Ken about the 2 to 5 seconds you have to grab a Visitors attention. That is why I do not like Google Adsense.  For the most part it is placed in the part of the web page that opens first. So being that it is relevant Advertising, if this grabs the attention of the visitor you have lost them to someone else.

It seems Google has created this intentionally. Think about this for a second. Google has wrote the rules on SEO which is by far the trend of todays marketing. They have created the rule for Adsense to be place in the  "Sweet Spot" of your site. They convince you to focus on page rank to receive your traffic, By creating a Search Engine friendly website. You make sure your content is relative, so they can make the adds relative. You Optimize your site, and get on the first page of Google.

Then your traffic which originates here, clicks the link to opening Adsense Ads that steal your traffic. So all that effort of Optimization is a waste of time.

A better way to Optimize your site, is to make sure that if you get to the first page of Google and the traffic clicks to your site. Is to "Trap The Traffic"  By this I mean do not allow the traffic to go anywhere but where you want it too.

Give your Visitor only two choices, Hit the "Back Button" or click a link you have directed to go where you want them to go. Another Affiliate Program or Business of your own or a JV Partners site, etc.

I know this topic is a couple of weeks old, but I just wanted to add my two cents...

Ken, what you had mentioned about the lead capture page is exactly what got me started on writing my own informational products. I'm even going to write one for KISS and I was thinking about writing a little report for ICT too... something along the lines of "How to Make the Most of your Traffic Exchange". Then just fill it with ideas how the best ways to advertise on Traffic Exchanges.

You'd be able to build your list when people download the report, then inside the report you'd have your ICT referral URL to get signups for that. You're essentially killing two birds with 1 stone, and I've even found that I've been getting a lot more signups that way too.

And I completely agree with what Neal said about Google Adsense. I've been finding the same thing... that it draws attention from what I'm trying to promote. So I've come up with a new idea. Taking the lead capture page idea that I used above, instead of putting ads from other programs, you can create your own SEO ads that lead to the program you're promoting with the report. You can also ad a banner that leads back to your program too.

To see an example of what I mean:

http://lionsongsden.com/getresponsecourse/

That's an ecourse I was promoting for GetReponse. On the capture page there is the larger banner at the top and the smaller banner at the bottom. Both of them lead to the sales page for GetResponse.

I figured if the lead capture page isn't going to get their attention, then I may as well put something else there that will lead them right back where I want them.

You could even set up something similar for Project 4 Freedom when it launches. You could write several different reports (and I can help with that) regarding the different features offered and use those to get signups to the project itself. Meanwhile on the signup page for each you can put ads that lead to the signup page for the project.

I hope this made sense... I'm a bit out of it at the moment. If not I'll try and explain later when my brain starts working.
