Internet Marketing is a little different then marketing off line in the respect that it is generally referring to virtual products. Products that are downloaded and not a Physical item, such as and ebook or some program that is basically a website that is replicated. The methods we use are very similar nonetheless, meaning that you want to develop a a marketing plan that will get your product noticed and that will create sales.
How you develop this marketing plan will be determined by the market you are trying to break into. You must decide if you are trying to market to a specific Niche group within a certain market, or are you trying to encompass a entire market segment.
You must also decide what process you will use to reach this market, this is where it will differ from off line marketing the most. Some of the processes will be more effective then others depending on what your market segment is. For example if you are marketing and ebook or Affiliate Program, you will want to utilize banner ads, or Pay Per Click (PPC) advertising, as well as Lead capture Pages, sometimes called "Splash Pages" to build a list of prospects. If you are in Network Marketing or Multi Level Marketing (MLM) you will tend to use Leads Marketing, which is actually buying a targeted list of Leads, as well as the other methods mentioned.
It seems Latest trend is to concentrate on Content Relevance, or what is known as Search Engine Optimization (SEO). Buy making sure the Content of your website is relevant to your product so you will rank high in the search engines, such as Google. Website programing is now written so the search engines can easily find them. PHP and XML are some of the more popular website programming formats that are focused on SEO.
Blogs are very popular as well as Content Management Systems, like Worpress for Blogs and Joomla for CMS.To allow the website owner as well as the visitors to the site, create relevant content on the fly as opposed to an HTML website that requires you to rewrite the actual code.
This has made Article Marketing very powerful, as they are vital for content but are also used to submit to other media to link your site content back to the original website. Creating what is called a "Back Link", the more Back Links the more the search engines like it.
Now why is all this so important? It's all about having your website listed on the first page of a search engine. In Internet Marketing today thats what it is all about, being on the first page so you can receive Targeted and unique traffic to your website.
Now personally I do not see the point of doing all this work, to only have approximately 10 seconds to captivate my visitor, and get them to look at my website or product long enough for them to purchase my product or whatever it is I am hoping they will do at my website.
I am kind of an old school type of guy, I would much rather build a list the right way and build some sort of relationship with my perspective client then devote my efforts to a hope and a prayer. By taking the time and effort to build a proper list, and by utilizing some good marketing plans, you will develop a relationship with your client that can turn them into repeat customers. Once you build trust with your client you can bring them in on a new project or endeavor much more effectively. The best part of this process is you just might become friends after a time.
There are allot of different methods of Internet Marketing some more effective then others, we will be discussing a wide verity of these methods in later sections. Depending on your Niche or Marketing segment will be what determines which ones are the most effective.
