A Beginning Guide to Writing and Publishing Articles

Article marketing is a cheap and effective way in getting quality prospects
who are already interested in your product to your website.
Publishing quality articles is one of the fastest ways to get your site link to the top
of major Search Engines.

There are some points to remember when writing and publishing an article.
We will cover:
Content
Basic lay out, grammar & punctuation
Proofreading
Publishing

Content
I will revisit this under Publishing, but it is important.
You have to write it. Let me say that again. You have to write your own article!
The very last thing publishers want is the same content by many different
authors. You can research other articles, books, etc., and take mental & written notes
to learn all you need, but do not copy and paste anything. Most articles are designated as copyrighted.
You can freely use them on your website as content in whole, including the author’s information and links,
but you cannot publish them as your own!

You will be surprised at how easy it is to write your own article
after you thoroughly research and understand a subject!

Keep your word count to between 750 and 1000 words. This is the recommended
article length of most publishing sites. It will allow you to keep the readers’
attention to the very end where they will have the option of clicking that link
to your site.

Basics
Start with a brief introduction of the topic. Give the reader the points that will be
covered in your article (and stick to them). Keep your lines fairly short, this will
also keep the readers’ attention. Be sure to paragraph and double space frequently.
Readers need to see a clean and open article.

Use proper grammar in your article. This can be subjective depending on the topic
you’re writing about. Make sure all of your statements are worded so that they
make sense. Sounds weird, but you don’t want to put in a sentence that completely
goes astray.

Spelling and punctuation are very important for obvious reasons. It’s called
credibility. You can be a wizard on your subject, but when people see simple mistakes,
it turns them right off. They will never get to the end of your article. Or to your link.

Virtually all word processing programs have a spell check feature. Always use them
as they are quick and accurate. In punctuating, avoid lots of exclamation points,
multiple question marks, capital letters and excessive over emphasizing.
It makes an article look unprofessional. A great big hint on how to avoid this is next!

Proofreading
So you’re done and it looks great to you, right? Are you going to be reading it,
clicking on your link and buying? I read my articles over & over and nit-pick
them like crazy. But you need someone to read it objectively and tell you what
they see. Because you wrote it, you know what you were saying. You will tend
to overlook the don’ts spelled dno’ts. If your proofreader says, “What does this mean?”
you better take another look and reword it because you won’t have a chance to
explain what you wrote after it’s been published.
This is a very simple precautionary step and you need to use it.

Publishing
I want to touch on my very first point for a moment.
Your article needs to be original, written by you. Publishers will not approve
an article with the content of other authors. This is a good thing for us all.
First, no one wants to search and read the exact same thing word for word
that they just read. Another very important point is that it gives you the chance
to bring out your style of writing and have readers really get the feeling that
they know you personally. That’s very important for your future articles.

There are many sites to submit your article for free. Search Engines love articles
and article sites. You will notice they are at the top of many different searches.

Do a google search for “submit articles” to find the many sites that will consider
publishing your article. Use any of these sites and remember you can submit your
own original article to many publishers!

A note here: Though most publishers do not allow your links within the body of
your article, there is a fairly new PPC (pay-per-click) trend in which advertisers can
submit ads to pick up on key words within your article. They are then highlighted as links.
They open in new windows so as not to take your readers away from your article.

You can generally put your site or affiliate link only in your Signature
(or About the Author) as it is sometimes called. This is the key to getting buyers to your site.

Use your real name or a pen name. Give a brief promo line and then the link you want
readers to visit. If you have a main site or email address, include it here in the same way.
It’s important to keep your “About the Author” or “Signature” as clean as you can.
Do not write ads or have an excessive number of links, also shorten any long or obvious affiliate links.

Writing an article and getting it published is a very satisfying endeavor.
The quality free traffic is more than just a bonus!
I urge you to consider this in your marketing because once it’s done,
you can just let it develop on it’s own!

I thought your article was terrific,very easy to follow for anyone new to article writing.Everything is laid out and explained very clearly.
